The foundation stone of today’s Lenz und Johlen Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft was laid in Trier in 1924.

This is where Dr. Hubert Lenz, the father of Wolfgang and Dr. Kurt Lenz, established himself as a lawyer. In 1930 he moved his law firm to Cologne, where he worked as a lawyer at the Higher Regional Court.

The law firm became a partnership whenWolfgang Lenz decided to join his father in 1955. As a result of his love of public law, the field of activities of the law firm were expanded to almost all areas of administrative law, and in particular planning, building and emission control law.

In 1957, after the death of Dr. Hubert Lenz, Dr. Kurt Lenz joined the law firm and worked as a lawyer at the Higher Regional Court of Cologne. The law firm then expanded continuously, starting with the addition of Dr. Heribert Johlen in 1965. Nearly 30 lawyers work in the partnership today, fifteen of whom specialise in administrative law, and three in building and architectural law.

The increase in personnel was accompanied by spatial expansion of the practice over the past 60 years, from the Blumenthalstraße 20 to the Blumenthalstraße 79, to the Kaygasse. Finally,Lenz und Johlen moved to the Gustav-Heinemann-Ufer 88, amodern office building located at the Rhine in Cologne.
